Dad’s Release

HI all

I thought this would be the easiest way to share with you our little boating adventure to release dad’s ashes. We were supposed to do this a long time ago but that darn COVID had other plans. Dad had asked Brian and Kim if we could spread his ashes off of their boat into the waters near Nanaimo. We finally got a chance to do that.

The day was calling for rain but we decided we would do this rain or shine. The Day ended up being one of those incredibly beautiful warm fall days. It was perfect. Mom, Lori and I caught the 8:45 ferry to Nanaimo and met Christine and John at the Docks where Brian and Kim keep the boat.

We boarded and were on our way. Kim made chicken wings, dad’s favourite. Lori, Christine and I made up some trays of cheese, crackers and cold meat. Of course there was also Beer and Wine… Brian even had some rum to toast dad. All of his favourite things.

Below you will find the video of the day. I had just put my phone on a tripod. It’s 25 minutes long so it’s the whole thing, unedited and the sound has some wind issues. The photos were taken by Lori and I with our cell phones. We didn’t take one of the boat so I stole one from Brians FB page :) One of the photos is of the shore close to where we released his ashes, Brian thought it would be a nice spot and it was. Oh and for a bit of a chuckle, it’s actually a bible camp on the shore 😁 There are two poems included, which Christine found and read for us, and they were perfect. Thank you Christine.

Mom and I wanted to share it with all of you. ❤️ We give big warm thank you’s and hugs to Kim and Brian, Christine and John and Lori for being there in person with us.
