Chadwick and Kyle get Married!
Chadwick and I have been friends for a long time, we have seen each other through the good and the bad. Chadwick, one for always doing creative dates, brought Kyle, on their second date, to scream for my camera for the Scream project and I could tell there was something special happening. Fast forward to 2020, Kyle and Chadwick got engaged (and that was its own totally creative proposal story) Then COVID hit. All plans come to a grinding halt. Well that wouldn’t stop these 2 from getting married, and doing it in a way that was so totally them.

His description is the best. “Part variety hour, part game night, part Pee Wee's Playhouse. Me Love BINGO! takes the ol' timey game of luck and amps it up to 11 with a different theme each time. Guest performances, undercover storytelling and a ton of gold sequin fabric await you and your friends.” Kyle had done a wonderful pivot with Me Love Bingo and had done a couple of zoom shows. Bingo from home. So much fun. He was planning another show for July. Then they told me THE secret, they were getting married as part of the show, and it was going to be a surprise for everyone. I was honoured that they asked me to be there to photograph their marriage.
The Day was incredible the tiny crew were amazing. We were all giving special masks before going live, yup gold sequins! The show was taking place in their space with a few of us on the rooftop deck. They had tested and retested the zoom connection but of course when they went live, it wasn’t working properly.. so stressful! One of my favourite images was created as I took a shot through the window of Kyle and Chadwick as they comforted each other.. they might have to cancel. Miraculously at the final minute everything started working. Yay, The show went on. First surprise of the night was a guest appearance by Dan Mangan singing a song he hadn’t performed publicly yet ( I didn’t get to hear it cause, you know, taking pics!) The Officiant was on zoom “from home” but she was actually up on the rooftop deck, She got a Bingo and then bam, showed she was there in person. I still haven’t actually seen what the show was like, we couldn’t hear or see it from the deck. Kyle and Chadwick started lipsyncing (which was actually a pre made video) Check it out. As they came up the stairs to the deck the famous East Van Crow migration started, perfect timing. Chadwick and Kyle said their vows with the sun setting. It doesn’t get much better than that. Yup I was crying and taking pics at the same time. It was a very very special day and my heart glows every time I think about it. My gold mask is a hit wherever I go.
