A relaxing walk in Delta

The beginning of 2022 was so unusual for us here in BC. We had a white Christmas, and so much snow. It’s very pretty, but it certainly can cause havoc with life in Vancouver. my last post were photos I took while I was trying to make my way to getting my booster shot. I take my camera along with me when the weather or the lighting might be interesting. I also take my camera along as a form of relaxation. For me there is nothing quite like going for a walk in nature, being, seeing and breathing.

When I know I’m going for a photowalk, I sometimes will set some ideas, or plans for what I want to photograph. I usually choose just one lens instead of taking a few. In this case I knew my cousin Lori was taking me to Delta, I figured the best lens for the walk would be my 24-70mm 2.8 lens. I can take wide landscapes and get a little bit close with the one lens.

Lens at 24mm, ISO 120, F5.6 The Lighting was incredible, sunlight filtered through the fast moving clouds made the light change very quickly.

Same scene as above but lens at 70mm. I love the feel of the branches in the composition, and used them to frame the subject

When you are out walking with your camera, be sure to take some time with any scene you like. Look at it with the camera up, take a few photos, and then take the camera away from your eye. Look again. Sometimes taking a second look you can find something you didn’t see at first.

It was such a lovely walk with my cousin. oh yes, a little comment on walking with a photographer. Lori and I were great on this walk together. We photographers tend to stop a fair amount when we are walking which can be a drag for the people you are with, but in this case, Lori was listening and identifying the birds in the area. Not only did I get to stretch my creative juices I got to learn about the birds too! What a fabulous, beautiful day!
